Statement of Senator Richard J. Gordon on the 3rd anniversary of the Mamasapano Massacre

Since the dead cannot cry out for justice, it is our duty to seek justice for the 44 members of the Special Action Force who were butchered in a bungled anti-terror operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao three years ago. We should also always remember the heroism of our fallen commandos.

While people are crying out for justice for the SAF 44, it is blatant that President Benigno Aquino III is still skirting responsibility for sending them to their deaths by passing the blame to other people. Just as he is evading accountability for what has become the country’s major medical nightmare – using the Dengvaxia Vaccine in implementing a dengue vaccination program and thus placing the lives of more than 830,000 people, mostly children, at risk.

Ultimately, President Aquino was responsible for Oplan Exodus in the same manner that he negotiated with Dengaxia’s French manufacturer, Sanofi Pasteur. He cannot backtrack from it.
